What is Le Diner en Blanc?  It’s an exclusive pop-up picnic with an all-white dress code and attendees bring their own tables, white chairs, white table linens, tableware and a gourmet meal. The event also includes live entertainment and dancing. The tradition began in Paris 30 years ago and attracts more than 10,000 people annually in its founding city. The first American Diner en Blanc was hosted in New York in 2011. Today, the dinner is held in more than 70 cities and 35 countries. As with past Diner en Blanc pop-ups, the location will be unveiled to participants on the day of the event. Register now to get on the wait list (which for Philadelphia last year reached about 30,000 people…).

It's Bastille Day!

Bastille Day is the French National Holiday, and celebrates the beginning of the French Revolution.  This day commemorates the storming of the Bastille, a medieval fortress that came to be used as a prison.  The prison was a symbol of the harsh rule and absolute power of Louis the 16th.  By capturing the prison on July 14, 1789, the people signaled that the king’s power was no longer absolute, and the first Republic Was created in 1792.

Bastille Day is a huge celebration, with parades, dances, fireworks, and family gatherings.
